Des Plaines and Hoffman Estates Law Firm Frequently Asked Questions Video
How are mediators selected during a divorce?
Mediators can be selected, usually one of two ways.
Either the court will appoint a mediator and that’s usually done by the attorneys for each respective party agreed to that particular mediator, or the court sua sponte, on its own order can basically appoint whatever mediator the court wants to have appointed.
Or the parties without an actual order of the court or a decision made between their own respective attorneys can agree to have a mediator, either before they start their divorce process or any time during their divorce process.
