Hoffman Estates attorney Patricia A. Tauchert is experienced in all aspects of business operations. As a 1979 graduate of Northwestern University School of Law, Pat has extensive experience in representing banking interests, retail businesses and manufacturers.
Pat started her legal career in private practice in Chicago. During her time there, she assisted in all areas of general plaintiffs’ practice, including real estate transactions, personal and business bankruptcy proceedings, business incorporations, tort claims and the purchase and sale of businesses.
She moved on to serve as in-house counsel to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, where she provided support for all central bank functions and operations and human relations issues. She implemented policies and resolved disputes related to inter-bank payments, fiscal agency functions, and transportation and automation contracts and discount window loans, including the first $1 billion discount window loan.
During her 13 years as an attorney for Sears, Roebuck and Co., Pat provided support for all transactions and operations of the Sears Merchandise Group, a $30 billion retailer, focusing on leased businesses, supplier bankruptcies and domestic and international purchasing. She also supervised hundreds consumer and business litigation matters.
As a corporate law attorney for Square D Company, Schneider Electric, Pat has successfully negotiated multimillion dollar deals in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, the Caribbean, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, covering such diverse business matters as asset sales, structure and organization, construction contracts, purchase of capital equipment and inventory, sales of goods and services, real estate transfers, environmental compliance, government contracting compliance, dispute resolution, financing arrangements, and loan workouts.
Pat is a published author and has testified in front of Texas legislative committees on pending legislation and regulations on the sale of goods. She is a past chair of the Religious Organizations Subcommittee of the American Bar Association and continues to be a contributing author and editor of the ABA publication, Guide to Representing Religious Organizations.
